SEEDS FOR GOOD HEALTH

Hi To All,
                    Today I am writing about the benefits of eating the seeds of different fruits and vegetables. A protein source for vegetarians, dropping with essential oils and good in taste.

1. SUNFLOWER SEEDS - They are very rich sources of B-Complex vitamins. Sunflower seeds can be used to enrich any meal. They can be sprinkled over cereals,salads, yogurt and soups. They can be mixed with vegetables to augment their protein, vitamin and mineral contents. They can be used like chopped nuts on desserts. They can also be taken as snacks between meals. It is helpful in reducing cholesterol deposits on the wall of arteries.Sunflower seeds is one of the richest sources of iron  in any food. Roast seeds and remove from heat as soon as you smell a nutty aroma any longer and you'll burn them. Now you can pop them into smoothies.



2. SESAME SEEDS - The hard husk of sesame seeds must be removed prior to consumption. The husk is also very rich in calcium, iron and vitamin B1. The white seeds are extremely rich in calcium and are useful in all cases of calcium deficiency. The oil extracted from sesame seeds is of very  high medicinal quality. Sesame seeds are highly beneficial in the treatment of piles.

Black sesame seeds, as a rich source of iron, are valuable in anemia. The seeds are valuable in respiratory disorders. Sesame is grown for its edible seeds which are the source of gingerly oil. The fried seeds are eaten in soups and mixed with sugar, are a popular sweetmeat in Africa and Asia.



3. PUMPKIN SEEDS - Pumpkin seeds are high in zinc, protecting you against osteoporosis. Pumpkin seeds contain magnesium and are natural enemies of tapeworms and other parasites. These seeds are a friend of curries. They lend body to a gravy.


4. WATERMELON SEEDS - Watermelon seeds contain several amino acids, which regulates blood pressure. They are also rich in B vitamins. Their texture adds bite to salads, breads and cakes. Toss them with grateed coconut in jaggery to make a healthy chikki.


5. FLAX SEEDS - It contains Omega.It stabilizes hormone levels and helps lessen the impact of menopause. Powder them and add them to chapati flour or salad dressing. Grind some seeds with garlic, green or red chillies, grated  coconut and salt.your chutney is ready.



6. MUSTARD SEEDS - It is used in pickles and salads,and leaves are used as a vegetable. White mustard seeds can be used beneficially as a beauty aid. A handful of these seeds are roasted in a litre of sesame or coconut oil. The oil is than strained and cooled. It is applied with little water over face before going to bed. It will cure pimples.

Mustard oil boiled with henna leaves is useful in healthy growth of hair.



7. NIGELLA SEEDS (Kalonji) - It is very effective against asthma and help recover from malaria faster. Add them to a tadka over simple daal chawal(pulses and rice) bake with bread or as the oil.
While making any vegetable, add them as the oil heats up, they are very flavorful. You can also sprinkle them over a salad dressing.



8. CHIA SEEDS (Sabja) - They make falooda attractive, and are great when added to any drink. They aid weight loss because they swell and fill you up. Soak them overnight and mould them into laddoos by mixing them with some grated coconut and  jaggery. It has cooling property when added to any sherbet.
