MANY SHADES OF SUCCESS

Hello Friends,
Today we consider a person successful if he or she is a physician, an engineer or has amassed wealth. Today's values are quite different from those of yesterday's. But is that success ? What is the definiation of a successful man ? Supposing one has made plenty of money through questionable means and has acquired a bungalow, a car and other luxuries, but has an unhealthy mind and body, of what use is that kind of money ?

Only a balanced  mind can ensure a healthy body worries can be kept at bay only by seeking divine grace. By all means earn name and fame through your activities, but peace of mind can only be achieved only by sharing your prosperity with others. Only then can you be termed as really successful. Worry is justified for something that is unusual and impossible, worrying for something that is usual and  common is useless.

We consider money to be the be-all and end-all if that were so, moneyed people would not be unhappy. They could have bought health and peace of mind with money. To acquire wealth at any cost is wrong. By all means achieve success through hard work, courage and ability, but do not forget the less fortunate ones.

In spite of acquiring wealth, most wealthy families are divided, tense and miserable. I believe that a really successful man is one who has performed his duty successfully, one who who has achieved peace of mind, one who has freed himself from worries, and one who has faith in himself and in God, one who has mastered the art of living a happy and contented life, and one who is unspoilt, idealistic and perceives divine grace in everyone. Have courage, try the magic of strong will and self confidence. We become what we think of ourselves. By positive thinking and good habits, we can make ourselves happy.

Well, to control one's mind is a very difficult task, but if we ordinary human beings can keep our balance of mind, we can live a happy life,it is a universal  wish to lead a happy life: no one wants to be unhappy. In my view after we finish our morning prayers we must sit down and think about the reason of our unhappiness and the turmoil in our mind. Living is an art and it is difficult to master it.

The one good aspect that we learn from the lives of all great human beings is that they were always optimistic. God is merciful and wants to help us at all times, but we must have an unwavering faith and love for Him. Nothing in life is permanent. So, like  the good phases, even bad phases will pass away. The sun of hope is bound to rise for everyone. Let us seek refuse in God in all sincerity. If you want to be successful and happy, don't lose heart.

Man is a reflection of God and possess divine  attributes. If we want peace of mind, we should love everyone. The word humanity is derived from "human". To lend a helping hand to the fallen and wipe others' tears is humanity. What a joy it is to help the needy! It gives us immense peace of mind! If you want to have peace of mind and mental power, then listen to your inner voice which is also the voice of God.

Experts opine that those who remain occupied are uncomplicated and possess self- confidence and have control over their minds. Half the misery and pain in the world could disappear if men considered and ceased to entertain ill feelings towards each other. Great thinkers and philosophers of the world believe that the  whole world is one large family.

I believe universal goodwill, if I have good feelings for others, then I can achieve peace and will entertain no bitterness for others. For ordinary man, suffering can make miserable, but those who exercise control over their mind, sorrow prods them to think deeply. When they suffer, it creates in them a capacity to feel other people's sorrow. Let us never cause unhappiness to others. Sorrow and happiness are simply a state of mind.

It is difficult for all of us  to become God-realised. If we can render concrete help to a man in distress, the least we can do is sympathize with him. That can give us peace of mind. You can experience joy when you extend a helping hand to someone in distress or lighten someone's burden and mitigate someone's sorrows. No one is a born sinner. A sinner doesn't necessarily remain a sinner always. We achieve peace of mind and happiness when we are able to give happiness to others. Sometimes even some good persons commit a sin.We must forgive them.If we forgive a man sincerely, we can erase evil thoughts from his mind.

When your mind is upset take the path of devotion, your mind will be at ease. The most
precious gift God  has bestowed on man is purity of thought.Men of character  are pure in thought, words and deeds.

We often observe that those who have  less demands and are always immersed in their work, are happier than others. Fewer desires do not mean that we live a life of total self-denial. It means that we do not live beyond  our means in order to keep up with the Joneses. Let us reduce  our wants. Man must live by his own labour and not sponge off others for his livelihood.A rich person who fails to ease the pangs of hunger and thirst of the needy is a worst sinner and not deserving of divine forgiveness.

Body and mind are deeply inter- related. Physical fitness is very important. Take exercise regularly. If you cannot exercise, atleast walk. Walking is the easiest exercise and prevents obesity. Try and avoid self-medication. Keep your body healthy, then your mind too will be healthy. Eat simple food. People with fewer wants rarely resort to falsehood. They deal fairly with others. Peace of mind generates good health and enables us to lead a healthy and long life.

I feel that  by living simply one can lead a full and long life. You must have heard the saying "A healthy mind has a healthy  body". The mind greatly influences the body. When you achieve peace of mind, your will power becomes stronger. God has gifted human beings  power to resist disease. But  for this power to be effective, it is essential that both mind and body should work in harmony.

If our mind is free from tension and turmoil, we can easily live a meaningful life. Man is the supreme creation of God. Among Man's highest achievements is ability to pray. If you pray during an illness, your mind will be calm, and this will accelerate your recovery. Faith is a pre-requisite of prayer. You may say that faith is blind. But when prayer reaches its pinnacle, it works even better than medicine and science.

It is said that greed for money is the cause of human misery and worry. True enough, money is not the be all and end all. What is the use of too much money ? It only brings about unrestricted consumerism and restlessness.

Keep cool.Relax regularly.Wish everyone well. Never think ill of others. As a result your power and peace of mind will increase and you will be successful in life. Mankind can get salvation only in two ways: man's love for his fellow beings, and man's love for divine creation. Every good deed leads to another. If we keep questioning ourselves, we will come to a conclusion that the constant mention of I, me, mine is baseless. Nothing is ours.

To succeed, try and follow these guidelines :
A. Consider everyone your friend.
B. State everything clearly.
C. See the other person's point of view.
D. Remain steadfast to your principles.
E. Be loyal to your inner voice

Remember we should not flatter, but we must shower praise where it is due. Another requirement for success is not to become a sycophant. Never entertain unnecessary doubts. Let us perceive good in every happening; and consider it as a divine design.

Undesirable thoughts, fear, worry and unnecessary anxiety causes cardiac disease. People who constantly keep their mind under control and drive away negative thoughts do not face any cardiac problems.

If you develop the ability of being cheerful in sorrow and pain, your mind will remain at peace. Sometimes, harassed by sorrow, we lose our cool, and our faith in God is shaken. But by showing us such examples, God amply demonstrates that he exists.

Another important point is always be happy when you see others happy. Whenever we make others happy, or help others  or make them comfortable, without any selfish motive, we are rewarded with true joy. Even small things can  give us great happiness! Whenever anyone approaches you for help, try to help him.

Silence gives more joy than talking, those who listen  to others attentively, can appreciate other's woes quickly. If you cannot find peace of mind in silence then read a book on mind control at that time. It's said that words are like money and should not be wasted unnecessarily. Think positively. After every failure, success is sure to follow. The thoughts we entertain begin to take a concrete shape. Always think positively. Always be hopeful. Because we become what we think of ourselves. Pray to God daily to grant you the power to adapt yourself to your circumstances, if you cannot do this, pray for the power to change the circumstances.

We cannot always change our circumstances. Everything does not function according to our will. The true success lies in changing our outlook and lead a life of peace and happiness.

Blessed are the givers because God chooses them as his messengers to help the needy. The joy, peace and the contentment which one receives from giving  cannot be had from taking. Give without motive. Give selflessly. If you will look around you will find plenty of examples. Those who give are generally cheerful. They also have plenty of self confidence. If you want real happiness give solace to others. Be grateful to God that He has enabled you to be of service to others.

If you have committed a lapse, admit it truthfully-don't be afraid. Mend  your ways. Repent. Learn from your mistakes. If necessary, seek pardon. If essential, make up for the loss.Every human being  is blessed with certain spiritual powers. We have to use them and success will kiss our feet. When we have have faith in ourselves, and have an unshakeable faith in God, we can trust others.

Try to divert your thoughts to pleasent subjects.Have self confidence. People who have self-confidence do not entertain any unfounded fears or doubts. God has kept certain matters beyond human comprehension. There is divine wisdom in the arrangement.

People who have been successful in this world have mostly been fluent speakers. They had the gift of presenting their point of view forcefully and convincingly. This gift can be acquired by me and also by you. Do not be under the impression that they were all born with this gift.

A person with courage, will power and high morale needs neither a patron nor a guide. Her hopeful spirit is enough to take her to great heights. Those who believe in God always accept their fate. Those who have faith in God are the real souls; the rest are like dolls of clay. There is a silver lining to every dark cloud. Never lose heart. Be cheerful. Put the ball in God's court.

By doing a good deed we not only give comfort to others, but we also derive peace and happiness. Let us consider our existence in this world like a dream and conduct ourselves accordingly. In short, no one can claim to remain on the top  for ever. Someone will overtake him.We should always be hopeful, but avoid ARROGANCE.

POSITIVE - THINKING

Good Evening To All,

What is the difference between a man and a machine? The power of thinking. A machine can not think, it is given only to the human being to think. Even the most wicked rogue, a crook, or even a criminal can raise himself to the height of the most pious saint, sage or a great soul, just by changing his or her way of thinking. That is the power of thinking. A complete transformation takes place and nothing less than that. This can not happen in animals or machines. A man who does not think is not a human being at all.

Most of us are not aware of this thought-power. What is mind? A bunch of thoughts. All these thoughts, accumulated tendencies in the subconscious mind, make us dance to their tune. We are just machines manipulated by our thoughts. They guide us, make us act, force us to commit blunders and ultimately kill us. They drive us to unknown places, and bind us to this world. They drag us, pull us,and sometimes throw us in a ditch, and again lift us. They make us weep, they make us laugh-these thoughts. They make us obey like a slave. That is what our thoughts  make us.There cannot be an effect without a cause.

Yes, we ourselves are the cause of our helplessness. It is we who are responsible for our slavery. Yes, we entertain the most crooked, terrible, violent, lustful, greedy and harmful thoughts. Brooding over them for years, nay births, we have brought ourselves to this miserable state.

But there is nothing to despair or to be afraid of. There is hope. There are infinite possibilities hidden in each one of us. We can certainly undo what we have done. No one can do it for us. Look not for help from above. Self help is the best help. Turn the wheel upside down:  change the process of thinking. You can create heaven in hell by just learning the art of positive thinking.

It is our own mind, not someone else's. We are the masters, only untrained masters. We are like an illiterate farmer who, though the owner of the field, does not know how to cultivate it and get a bumper crop due to lack of knowledge of modern technology. We have full freedom to cultivate  the field of our own mind. However, we should not blame the mind. Mind is essentially good, pure and fertile, only it is barren due to our negligence, and the  result is all sorts of weeds have taken deep roots in it.

We can convert it into a beautiful flower. Just by learning the art of positive thinking. We can enjoy the fruits of our actions, which result in peace and happiness-Infinite.

Beware of the senses-they are thieves and cheats. They rob our wisdom. They are unintelligent. They only bring suffering and pain. Senses run after enjoyment. Those leads to diseases, which cause pain.

To get rid of them, we need yoga, that is, self-control. Senses are not essentially bad. They are good, obedient, and very useful. Learn the art of controlling the senses and turning them within.

We blame the stars and planets and we blame our fate. We blame everything for our misfortune, but we do not blame our own self.

We are ignorant, forgetful, immature prate. We forget that there is none to be blamed, but ourselves. Ask yourself, ask again and again till you get an answer. You are not what you consider yourself to be. You are no better than those who surround you.

Your negative thinking has brought you to this situation. It is you who created these situations by your thinking. Blame yourself and stop blaming others. Learn the ART OF POSITIVE THINKING: everything will change the moment you change your way of thinking. The world is a mixture of good and evil. The choice is yours. Let us set right our prism by developing positive thinking, and the whole world will change for us.

The world is a mixture of good and evil. Choose as you like; make or mar yourself. You cannot run away from evil. You see a good religious programme on the TV, but in between very undesirable advertisements appear. Can you avoid them? Yes, you can; withdraw your mind; eyes will not take in the image unless the mind is attached to it. Protect yourself from evil thoughts by selecting the right ideal, an ideal which can fulfill all your aspirations.

POSITIVE THINKING can even help us to get rid of your physical and mental problems. It helps us to achieve our goal, and ultimately lead us to the goal of life, that is, Freedom.

To develop a positive attitude, we must cultivate the habit of reading good, strengthening and inspiring literature. It is food for the mind. Reading will help our thinking process. Out of deep thinking will come conviction, and firm convictions alone will help us to put ideas  into practice.

Let us set right our prism by developing positive thinking, and the whole world will change for us.

Negative thinking is the cause of many physical and mental disorders. It is not age that makes us old or young, but our way of thinking. Cheerful and healthy thoughts are a sign of youth.Whereas sickly, weakening and negative thoughts are a sign of old age. Most people die not because of disease, but due to the fear of death.

Men are taught from childhood that they are weak and sinners. Teach them that are all glorious children of immortality, even those who are the weakest in manifestation.Let positive, strong, helpful thought enter into their brains from very childhood........

Be a hero. Always say, "I have no fear." Tell this to everybody- "Have no fear." Fear is death, fear is sin, fear is hell, fear is unrighteousness, fear is wrong life. All the negative thoughts and ideas that are in this world have proceeded from this evil spirit of fear...... Tell them to brush aside their illness by mental strength, and in an hour it will disappear! And everything will vanish.......

Only those who think positively live longer, and enjoy good health.Generous persons not only abjure anger but are also quick to forgive others. I feel that constructive and confident thinking is infectious. Therefore hopeful thinking should be encouraged.

Courage and high morale must be maintained. By thinking on these lines our physical, mental and spiritual power increases.

Thanks

CORRECT ETIQUETTE

Hello Everyone,

"Good manners and knowledge maketh a man."
  -- Henry Bradshaw.

The secret of living successfully among our fellowmen and women lies in our power to adjust ourselves. If other people's behaviour acts on our nerves or if our own manners constantly cause irritation to others, ours will not be a pleasant society. Ill-bread people are continually annoying one another.

The most truly courteous man or woman is the one who considers what effect his speech or actions have on the person with whom he is dealing. There is a natural courtesy which is really of more value than any code of manners, but unless we are experienced people, we may often commit blunders which, though quite unintentional, may cause embarrassment to ourselves and to our associates. It is therefore valuable to be able to learn the points of etiquette, which are accepted in society.

On being introduced for the first time one says: "How do you do?" but no answer is expected of this question. It is not an inquiry after one's health but merely a polite phrase.

It is not correct to ask a long string of personal questions of a new acquaintance, nor to offer details of your own family life. Later if you wish to continue your friendship, further details of personal history may be exchanged. Introductions are far less formal nowadays than they used to be.

It is correct to return a call within a week. The rules of procedure which govern return calls are exactly the same as those for first time.

When a friend is ill, and is not allowed to see visitors, it is nevertheless cheering for her to know that people have not forgotten her. One can get over this by leaving cards  marked "To enquire after Miss S".

When one has been invited to dinner or other formal functions, one should leave cards at the house of the hostess a few days after wards. Whether one had been present or not. This is acknowledgement of the hostess's courtesy in sending the invitation.

In the olden days, children learned the elementary rules of politeness in the nursery, and there was no need to include  them in any book of etiquette.

Habit is a most important factor in human nature, and therefore it is necessary to get children into habits of good manners from a very early age. A child should be taught is to say "Please" and "Thank you." Children should be encouraged to talk freely. Parents should  try to teach a happy medium. Little boys can be taught to be small gentleman.

Children's shoes should never be high-heeled. Besides looking ridiculous, they are  very bad for the ankles and prevent strong growth of the muscles of the foot and leg.

Travelling can be an extremely enjoyable as well as an educational persuit, if traveller makes his arrange with care and does his best to fit in with surroundings as far as possible.

The first and vital thing to do is to make sure that you have enough money to cover the expenses of the journey. Nothing is so embarrassing as to find oneself in a strange place without suffiecient money for ones's needs.

As with every special department in life, there are certain traditions which have to be learnt when making sea voyage. First is,never never to trespass on the bridge, nobody must go there unless expressly invited by the Captain.

Do not adopt a superior attitude over life-boat drills and think that they are merely foolish.

Many people allow themselves to be more worried than necessary over tips. A little common sense and judgment are all that is required to assess the fair amount to give.

In hotels and restaurants, ten per cent of the bill is given to the waiters. Never allow your servant to shut the door in the  face of acaller. If he cannot admit the caller immediately,he should leave the door open while he goesto inquire what to do.

When you are talking to people, look them straight in the face. Avoid nervous movement of the fingers when talking to people. This suggests lack of confidence in yourself.

If you have been to a party and going home very late, do not shout "goodbye" to your host, you will disturb all sleeping  occupants so go home quietly. Don't grumble at your wife or husband in the presence of other people.

Do not talk of your wife as "Mrs Z" or your husband "Mr Z" say "My husband" or "My wife"as the case may be,unless you know the person you are conversing with well enough to use your partner's first name when talking.

A gentle never makes a joke of a doubtful nature in the presence of a lady. Never, under any circumstances, use bad language in public, or in any place where ladies are present. Such behaviour would brand you at once as having no breeding.

Never introduce yourself to anyone by saying I am Mr. John say "My name is John. "Married ladies only are permitted to use to use their courttesy titles when introducing themselves. They may say "I am Mrs John."

Avoid making unpleasent noises in company. Do not clear the throat loudly, On no account spit except in the bathroom. When coughing, always hold a handkerchief or the hand before the mouth.

Ostentation or showingoff, in any form, is very bad taste. A well-bred person avoids at all  costs dress, behaviour, or speech which draws attention to himself or herself.

It is a most objectionable habit to dispose of your rubbish by throwing it out of the window or dropping it in the street. Safety pins should never be used as a visible part of a person's attire.

A well-bred person is always courteous to servants. If you have to reprimand one of your servants,do so in private, after your guests have gone.

It is extremely bad manners to turn around and stare at a person, eitjer in the street or in any public place. Never pick your teeth or clean  your nails in public.

A lady or gentleman does not make unkind remarks about people merely for the sake of being clever. It is always better to take the charitable view of another person's conduct.

Etiquette in respect to every aspect of daily life, has been considered: politeness, tipping, modes of speech and travelling.

Note- There is natural courtesy which is really of more value than any code of manners, but unless we are experienced people, we may often commit blunders which, though quite, unintentional may cause embarrassment to ourselves and to our associates.

NATURALLY GOOD HEALTH

My Hello to All,
Fresh and dry fruits are the natural staple food of man. They contain substantial quantities of essential nutrients in a rational proportion. They are excellent sources of minerals, vitamins and enzymes. They are easily digested and exercise a cleaning effect on the blood and the digestive tract.
Fruits have highly beneficial effect on the human system. Taking of fruits or fruit juice is the most pleasant way of hydrating the organism. However, fruits contain a very low level of sodium, they make a valuable contribution to a salt free diet. They are very useful for sick for quick energy. Fruits furnish minerals to the body. CHARACTER A POWERHOUSE

Hello friends,

Character comes at the top of everything else. As the saying goes :-

'WHEN THE WEALTH IS LOST, NOTHING IS LOST
WHEN THE HEALTH IS LOST, SOMETHING IS LOST
WHEN THE CHARACTER IS LOST, EVERYTHING IS LOST.'

Character is  inseparable from a person's life. Character's foundation is laid on the pillars of high values inculcated by the parents, the teachers, the mentors and writings of great philosophers and strong and principled

You know, character is the awakened divine in man before whom all heads bend, except those of the insane.

Robbers can break open and rob everything in the world, but not character, we have not really lost anything. Everything made by man can be destroyed by man, but not character. With character we can fearlessly face and conquer any kind of present and future.

Those who give their children everything in the world, but fail to give character, give them 'stone' in place of  bread. One can build one's own character. One can also lose one's character, even after building it.

1. When we do not have enough character-our weaknesses will be more than our strength.

2. Our enemies will be more powerful than our friends. Crimes will be more than acts of piety, unsafe places, more than safe places, people whom you can trust, less than those you can not. Young men and women will be without self-control.

3. Our knowledge will be used for the undoing of man in a sophisticated manner, we will use  great intelligence for doing small things and our high endeavors will then produce low results.

4. Right thinking will be impossible for us. And from wrong thinking how can desirable ensue? We will either live in the past or in the future and not in the living present.

5. And when we do not have enough character our marriages will be like dolls of sand, children like foxes, human relation a craft of selfishness, ugliness will reign everywhere. Our faces will lose lustre, there will be no hope in our heart.

6. If we have enough character our strength will be more than our weaknesses, fortunes greater than misfortunes.

TO BUILD CHARACTER

If we want these things to happen to us-and who would not want-we have to do one simple thing-build our character.

Now what is character?

Character is what a person truly is,and his reputation is what he is supposed to be. When character and reputation are the same, that is the ideal state of being. History is made by character. Character is defined as qualities or features by which a person or a thing is distinguished.
Every man's character is determined by the total of these impressions. If good impressions prevail, the character becomes good, if bad, it becomes bad. The man of character develops upwards, the man without character slips downwards. The man of character makes history, the man without it is marred by history. The man of character is the hope, solace, well-being, peace and inspiration of mankind; the man without character causes trouble, strife, worry and misery in society.

Character is so important for life that to have to live without it will be worse than not living at all.

Character holds the key to any riddle of life. It can break each and every vicious circle. There is no wound it cannot heal,no want it cannot fill, and no loss it cannot make good.

HELPFUL DISCIPLINES

1. Cultivation of approved or ethical conduct.
2. Training in acquirement of divine treasure.
3. Commitment to the higher scheme of values.
4. Practice  of  the three austerities of body, speech and mind.
5. Acquiring knowledge and training of the physical and mental systems.
6. Developing the powers of detachment and will power.

Those who earnestly seek to build their character, must start practicing these disciplines from the moment they have first heard about these. Life is short and character building a long process, no one should waste any further time.
Acquired character, practically speaking, is self mastery. Self-mastery presupposes the knowledge and the mastery of the instruments, the body and mind.

POWER OF A LEARNER

The power of fear
The power of faith
The power of energy
The power of insight

Character in good part is conduct. You behave as you are. There is one universal need for all lands, of all mankind. That need is of character. A well-regulated life ennobles every rank of life.

Though there is much to learn as to how we should conduct ourselves in various situations of life, it is hardly possible to know before hand all about the situations we shall be required to face. And no one need feel concerned on that score. Right conduct cannot be designed for all occasions and times.

Note:- You should remain humble learners all your life and keep your mind open  to all authentic teachings, no matter where from and whence they come.
